Paco Arnau, party councilor: "We are in difficult times for everyone"

23 June 2011 - 00: 03

In an interview granted in his office to Denia.com, Paco Arnau, new party councilor of the Dénia City Council, told us about the festive news of the city, this week more present than ever due to both the party program and the controversy that has raised the concern of the Association of Moors and Christians for not collecting the subsidies of the Consistory and the doubt that the works of Dénia Futur are finished in time to be able to carry out the acts of the program normally in C / La Mar, Plaza del Consell and C / Diana.

Regarding the festival program, Paco Arnau affirms that, although it is a work carried out by the previous team, led by Pepa Sivera, he himself has worked side by side with her from the Consell de Festes in its preparation. Arnau is aware that the program developed for the Santísima Sangre festivities, which will be held from July 9 to 17, has aroused much criticism, although he argues that with the budget available this year -100-000 euros, 120.000 euros less than last year - they have prepared an interesting program.

On the concern expressed by Josele Maldonado, president of the Association of Moors and Christians, Arnau says has been a misunderstanding unimportant, and no doubt the celebration, next August, the Moors and Christians in Sant Roc honor in the streets of the city.

In this regard, the finance councilor, Vicente Chelet, came to the step of Maldonado's statements stating that the works will be completed on time - it is expected that on June 30 the works of C / Diana will be completed and that the Plaza del Consell be ready in August-. Regarding the collective's complaint about the delay in the collection of subsidies, Chelet affirmed that the municipal coffers are going through a delicate moment and that the council has its priorities, such as social welfare and payments to suppliers.

Finally, Paco Arnau said in September when it will start working on new projects, upon completion of the Moors and Christians.
