Opinion of Fani Schwamb (Dénia Citizens): "A station without toilets is not a station"

January 09 from 2023 - 12: 41

Surely it must be very gratifying to go to a start-up of the train service to Alicante to take the photo with all the means and the usual deployment of authorities, but BEWARE, if the station is Dénia, you will have to take precautions and go with all physiological needs previously satisfied, because otherwise we may have a hard time.

It turns out that the only toilets in the entire facility are those inside the L'Estació bar and it may happen that it is closed “due to staff rest”.

We have been able to verify how many works are being carried out in the building, but none of them include providing it with public services that are permanently available.

It is not understood that such a structure is orphaned by some sad bathrooms, it will not be that they have not had plenty of time to undertake this basic and essential improvement.

In the municipal plenary session on the 29th, we asked the competent councilor and we received an answer that we cannot assume as good. It is true that the ultimate responsibility lies with FGV, the Valencian railway company, but our City Council must supervise and control the facilities that are carried out in our city, just as they supervise the railway crossings or the works that can be carried out in our port or in coastal area.
The answer to our question cannot be "we will transfer it to FGV", our City Council must demand the correction of this deficiency. Then it will be time to take photos, but first you have to do your homework and defend your citizens.

It would be a bad thing if Dénia was the one that stood out for being the one that did not have bathrooms available to its users. Seeing also how on this line absolutely modern subways or terminals are being built in other towns along its route. It is not the image that the capital of the Marina Alta should convey.
