A dolphin dies listed on the coast of Dénia

Last Saturday afternoon, a private person advised the Councilor for the Environment, Juan Carlos Signes, of the presence of a dolphin in the vicinity of the port of Dénia. Immediately, the councilor notified the Marine Environmental and Fisheries Service (SAMIP), which identified the cetacean as a listed dolphin that was sick.

Once the recovery protocol cetaceans, and contacted with the staff on duty Stranding Network was decided to wait until the next morning to act for lack of light activated.

Sunday morning, around 9, the SAMIP located the animal and told the vet guard Oceanogràfic recovery area. For more than two hours remained dolphin swimming in the sea wall by a member of SAMIP, which assessed their state.

With the help of volunteers and staff Stranding Network, they rescued the animal on the beach of Albaranas, where a technician Oceanogràfic tried to save the dolphin. Lamentabelmente could not do anything to save his life because of bad state that was and the animal's body was transferred to the University of Valencia to practice an autopsy.
