Vicent Grimalt recalled that the initiative began in 2018, following the 80th anniversary of the Civil War, and, after a pause forced by the pandemic, it was resumed last year with a new name, "Memòria i Futur", "because Contrary to the voices that continue to call for oblivion, we think that if we aspire to a good future, we must look the past in the face, close wounds and know the mistakes made, so as not to repeat them".

The objective of the conference, added the mayor, “is to make known aspects of our history, still recent and alive, to facilitate reflection, which is still so necessary. And to promote what really motivates us: to encourage citizens to coexist in peace and tolerance and a greater esteem for democratic values, the pillars of our society”.

The program of activities, as stressed by the Councilor for Culture, Raúl García de la Reina, "is the result of the collaboration of three municipal areas: Culture, Archives and Library", whose managers have been thanked for the work carried out.
