November 16 from 2016 - 15: 24

With the approach of Christmas, solidarity actions multiply around us. This is the case of the Food Collection organized by the Food Bank of the province of Alicante next Friday 25 and Saturday 26 November, an initiative that will also be held in Dénia under the name Small gestures that give life.

The Federació Marina Alta Solidaria, which brings together associations for social and solidarity purposes of the region, will install during those two days a total of 11 collection points in Dénia at the doorstep of almost all supermarkets in the town. From 9 in the morning to 21 hours, citizens who wish can provide non-perishable food that will be shared among users of the Food Bank of the entire province.

But for this initiative to be successful, the collaboration of many volunteers who collect and store the donated products during the two days is necessary. That is why the Federació appeal to society in search of volunteers to collaborate, in shifts of 2 or 3 hours, during the collection of food.

Those interested can sign up by calling 627408352, where they will be informed of the steps to follow to collaborate with this cause. At the moment, the Federation has the help of the members of AFIMA, Salvation Army, Extend your hand, Betània Initiative, the association of Housewives, the Fundació Falla Centro and the Local Board of Dénia Fallera.

To complete the team of volunteers, it would be necessary between 25 and 30 more people that will help these days solidarity go out.

Both the presentation of the initiative and the call for volunteers were carried out by the president of the Federació Marina Alta Solidaria, Antonio Sentí; the councilor for social welfare, Elisabet Cardona, and the representative of the Alicante Food Bank, Rafa Pastor.
