28 September 2017 - 16: 42

After several years of adjustments and cuts in municipal accounts, 2018's budgets will allow Dénia to allocate a line for investments. That is why, in 2018, the economic document will allocate approximately 200.000 euros of the chapter of investments whose final destination will be decided by the citizens.

The councils of Finance and Citizen Participation are coordinating this participatory process, which has been structured in three phases, as explained by the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Óscar Mengual. The first phase is the collection of proposals and will take place during the month of October.

Proposals may be submitted in three ways: through neighborhood meetings that will be held in October; presenting them in the Participation Room of Les Portelles or online, sending them to the email pciutadana@ayto-denia.es or registering them in the Participation portal www.participadenia.es.

Neighborhood meetings in the month of October

All meetings will be held at 20: 00 hours, except for the Saladar neighborhood, to be held at 19: 00 hours.

At the end of October, a session of the Consell Veïnal will be held so that its members can get a first-hand knowledge of the process and also contribute their proposals.

Once all the citizen proposals have been collected, the process will enter the evaluation phase, in which a group of technicians of the City Council of Denia will select those that will pass to the last phase, the one of voting.

Valuation and voting criteria

A number of criteria have been established to assess citizens' initiatives and ensure that they can be incorporated into the 2018 Municipal Budget and can be implemented with guarantees during the next year. These valuation criteria are public and can be consulted at www.participadenia.es. These requirements should include, for example, that they are technically, legally and normatively feasible, that are financially sustainable, that do not refer to investments already planned or that do not require external subsidies or financing.

The results of the selection will be published in the Participation Portal, on the bulletin boards of municipal buildings, in the media and in social networks. Citizens will then be called to the voting phase, scheduled from 11 to 17 in December.

16 seniors registered in Denia and the 18 seniors who, although not registered here, may have a property in the municipality can participate in the voting of proposals.

Votes can be made electronically at www.participadenia.es or in person at Portelles Participation Room, from Monday to Friday, from 9 to 14 hours.

The mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, has been pleased to be able to carry out participatory budgets for the first time in a decade, although he regretted that the amount could not be greater due to the debts and financial commitments that the town currently has.

For his part, the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Óscar Mengual, highlighted the joint work carried out between his council and the department of finance, which has allowed establishing the amount of these participatory budgets.

Finally, the deputy mayor, Rafa Carrió, has called for participation and added that the proposed actions that can generate a positive impact on the city but, due to some of the established selection criteria, cannot be accepted in participatory budgets. , will be transferred to the different councils to be studied and assumed in their roadmaps.
