The Socialists demand agility from the Provincial Council to launch the Travel Bonus and reactivate tourism in the province
The socialist group in the Alicante Provincial Council, through its deputy Óscar Mengual, has demanded from the government team of the provincial institution the creation, as soon as possible, of the work table within the "Costa Blanca" Tourist Board for the elaboration of the bases of the program of direct aid for the promotion of tourism in the Province of Alicante for residents of the Province -Destino Alicante-, approved in April by the Plenary of the Provincial Council, following a socialist proposal.
For Mengual, “when we made the Destination Alicante proposal, we defended the opportunity represented by adding to the reactivation of the province's tourism sector, and as a complement to the aid of the Government, Generalitat, and the Diputación itself. We believe it is important before, for example, the delay of British tourism, since it is another source of income ”.
In that sense, the socialist deputy stressed that this initiative emphasizes that, in addition to transferring direct aid to companies, they are also beneficial for citizens, because they feed back tourist interests and also the interest of citizens, knowing places of the province that many Alicante people do not know. "We have a formidable tourism sector and many families from Alicante willing to enjoy it, and the Provincial Council can help to produce this synergy."
It is this impulse, which had the support of all political groups, which, Mengual points out, “we do not want it to remain stagnant. We must comply soon with what was agreed in plenary session, so that companies in the tourism sector and the citizens of the province can benefit ”.
The sector continues to ask for this type of initiative
For Mengual, “this type of initiative is in line with the requests of the tourism sector to stimulate the activity of tourism companies or related companies, be it hotels, rural houses, hotels, shops, among others. Citizens are helped to carry out tourist outings in our province, winning our sector and creating future links for the people of Alicante with areas that they still do not know ”.
And it is that, for Mengual, initiatives such as "Voucher Viatge" of the Generalitat Valenciana, have been a "success, and can be complemented. The very high number of citizens who signed up, and who due to budgetary limitations have not been able to benefit, means that there is a huge demand from citizens who want to travel and do tourism in our land, and that must be taken advantage of ”.
