The Socialists are committed to creating an Educating City
The socialist group of Dénia carried out the conference on Education, where the challenges and shortcomings of the city were analyzed, at the Municipal House of Culture.
The presentation of the day was given by councilors Cristina Morera and Óscar Mengual. Morera highlighted the importance of creating spaces for debate on the main local policies based on the experience of managers and education professionals, while Mengual was in charge of presenting the speaker José Antonio Jiménez, Education Technician of the Paterna City Council.
José Antonio Jiménez advocated generating a great educational pact, including a strong Department of Education, with the capacity to bring together a Municipal School Council endowed with real capacity for influence in determining municipal intervention programs (school absenteeism programs, partner intervention programs -educational centers, scholarship programs and grants from the City Council).
The relevance of the project of the Educating City was discussed, which would include the creation of a "Consell de la Infància", thus understanding management in education as a cross-cutting axis of all municipal departments.
The day was divided into two panel discussions, the first of which was discussed around the secondary nursery, primary and high school, both at public schools, as agreed.
In her speech at this table, the founder of Colegio Paidos, Pepita Pedraza, broke down the educational trajectory of her concerted education center and analyzed the deficiencies in public infrastructures aimed at the child population that currently suffers from the city, as can be sports facilities.
The director of the Chabás Historian Institute, Juli Martínez, also participated, who highlighted the optimal adaptation of the training itineraries in secondary education due, to a large extent, to the work of the School Council.
In the second of the tables, Vicent Más (director of the Dénia adult school) and Raquel Martí (director of the UNED of Dénia) analyzed the higher and adult education system from their daily contact with the educational and social reality of their respective centers. More claimed new facilities due to the increase in enrollment in recent years.
Raquel Martí, claimed that the UNED Dénia is considered for all legal and social effects as a center, although under the Ministry of Education in Madrid, has its field of action in Valencian territory.
The Deputy Secretary General of Education of the PSPV, Miguel Soler, closed the day with some proposals for the government program of the Valencian Socialists in education. Soler opted for the use of resources and facilities that are currently underutilized and for the revision of the educational agreement.
