29 December 2014 - 00: 00

Students belonging to the Union of Contracorrect Students Union of the Marina Alta demonstrated at the gates of the Dianense city council to express their disagreement with the Citizen Security Law, popularly known as the "Gag Law". The call had a poor response since around 100 people came to show their support for this group of students.

The students hung up some banners in which they could read messages such as, "We were not born to suffer, we were born to win", "They will not shut us up", or "Students in struggle". Along with the young people, representatives of the CNT, Esquerra Unida, Podemos Dénia, SEP, Intersindical, Esquerra Republicana, the Assembly of Pego, Workers' Commissions, Guanyem Dénia, CUP of Pedreguer, Sanitation Platform, Education Platform, Los Verdes and the Platform for those affected by the Mortgage. Some of them wore gags in their mouths to show their disagreement with the recently passed law.

The student representative, took the floor to read a manifesto among other messages said, "This law criminalizes our rights and proclaims us as criminals by democratically defend ourselves. We want to pay exorbitant fines, they know they can not afford".

They also issued a clear warning to the leaders, "they will cover our mouths but we will continue standing. They will put barriers in our way to make the right to justice more difficult and we will have the right to lose. With each push towards fear, we will make a step against it. Our patience is over but the fight will continue".

During the course of the convocation there was no incident since the behavior of all those gathered there was exemplary. There was hardly any police presence and everyone was able to freely express their ideas about this law that has provoked a lot of debate in different forums.
