06 2018 April - 11: 49

There is already a date for the start-up of the new Dénia bus station, on José Moncho Ferrer street, next to the courts. The councilor of territory, Maria Josep Ripoll, has confirmed to Dénia.com that the transfer will be effective after the bridge in May.

Yesterday Thursday, 5 of April, the works were received, which have had a cost of 212.000 euros plus VAT and a deadline of execution of 8 months. From now on, the following steps are in the hands of the City Council. The next 16 day in April, Iberdrola will begin work on the electric light network. Works are also needed to improve the landscaping of the area, to extend sidewalks for pedestrians and to install urban furniture.

In addition, a window will be installed in the waiting area for travelers to be protected, and access to the public parking will be conditioned. Also, from the city council will make a small change in the Ramón Ortega Avenue to facilitate the transit of vehicles.

Next week, the City Council will hold meetings with taxi drivers and bus companies operating in Dénia to explain the current situation and the steps to take in the coming weeks.

Once the station has been moved to its new location, the redevelopment works of the Archduque Carlos square will begin, with an estimated duration of six months, which will convert the current square into a pedestrian zone, with green areas and children's spaces through which it will be possible to circulate from the avenue of Alicante towards the streets Pedreguer and Patricio Ferrándiz.

Soon, the urbanism department of the City of Dénia will hold a meeting with neighbors and businesses in the area to inform them of the deadlines and how they will affect the works of the square.
