Dénia and Jávea have agreed to convene soon the Xarxa of Mayors of the region to set joint actions aimed at stopping the oil drilling project in the Gulf of Valencia.

This was decided by the mayors of Dénia, Ana Kringe, and Jávea, José Chulvi, after a meeting held in the office of the first Dianense mayor on Monday afternoon. In the meeting with the rest of the mayors, which will be scheduled in the coming weeks, the creation of a special commission will be considered to act as interlocutor in the meetings that are planned to be requested with the vice president of the Consell and the minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Water, José Císcar, and with representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Energy.

Regardless of the call for the Network of Mayors, Denia and Javea have agreed to work together to express their opposition to the surveys on the coast. Currently they are working on actions to be carried out on Easter taking advantage of the influx of visitors.

A week ago the mayor of Jávea traveled to Brussels to meet MEPs from the committees of the Environment and Industry to pass on the concern that prevails in the region before the project and hand them a dossier that reflects opposition of society to these surveys .

For its part, the mayor of Denia moved to the popular MEP Eva Ortiz Plenum of the City of unfavorable Dénia to the environmental impact of the campaign seismic acquisition in the Gulf of Valencia and documentation reflecting delivery to the Prefectures in Alicante 2.910 of signatures collected in Dénia against oil exploration.
