The tradition of the festival of Sant Antoni in the region will reach schools thanks to the MACMA

January 11 from 2019 - 00: 00

The January 17, the festival of Sant Antoni, is approaching, a medieval festival halfway between the paganism of the agricultural cycle and Christian devotion to the devil. It is an ancient devotion. In the Valencian lands came the hand of Jaume I and the celebrations are as widespread as varied: demons and dances, dragons and purifying fires, blessing of animals and porrats to fill the belly.

With the aim of bringing the iconography, also the magic, of the San Antonio festivity to the students of the Marina Alta, and at the same time to raise awareness among the youngest and the youngest on the footprint of one of our most deeply rooted traditions, the MACMA has designed a didactic suitcase in order to make it reach all the schools in the region and thus start a project of dissemination and promotion of a holiday that deserves reflection and, consequently, a vindication for its recovery features of traditional culture.

The MACMA technique responsible for the project, Núria Gómez Bolufer, explained an initiative of great pedagogical scope that aims to provide the centers of the region with a fundamental resource for the dissemination of San Antonio within the framework of the classroom. The suitcase made by the MACMA includes a CD with audiovisual, musical, and plastic resources as well as printable cards; It also includes a copy of the cards to work with, the card game Vitol i Vitol and the map of porrats and Sant Antonis of the Marina Alta.
