The rehabilitation works of the house on San José de Dénia Street are very close to completion. In recent weeks the work has focused on the façade, once the works inside the building have been completed. This Friday began the removal of the scaffolding from the exterior wall, bringing to light what the final result of the building will be like.

The walls have been painted a raw color, with the details of the windows in white. Black iron bars have been installed on the balconies and the windows and doors that face the outside are light wood. In addition, the upper turret of the building has been painted in blue combined with white.

The works started at 2016 and are scheduled to end this summer. Once the construction work itself is finished, San José Street and Calle Mayor will be opened to traffic again. Next they will focus on furnishing the installations, some works already budgeted to be able to start up this cultural infrastructure in the month of September.

It should be remembered that the house of Sant Josep Street, which housed until a few years ago the Dénia Retirement Home, will become a cultural center that will host part of the Municipal Archive, the Public Library and an auditorium, with the aim of decongest the current Municipal House of Culture, also the headquarters of the UNED.

The investment of this work amounts to about 1,5 million euros, contributed entirely by the Ministry of Development.
