The Employment Board will pursue that employers respect the minimum wage

The Bureau of Employment, a representative body of the social, political and economic sector for the implementation of municipal public employment policies, held its first meeting of this legislature this week. The mayor, Vicent Grimalt, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Paco Roselló and the Councilor for Employment, Sandra Gertrudix explained the news of this new stage.

Among the objectives set by the mayor are the promotion of joint actions of the public administration, business and the third sector to develop public employment policies; favor actions to reduce unemployment in the most vulnerable groups and promote that all business associations with agreements and / or contracts signed with the city council sign an ethical code with which they undertake to pay their staff the minimum city salary, in compliance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

New working groups are created in the Employment Bureau

Another important novelty is the creation of new working groups, such as Social Responsibility, which will address issues such as ecological transition, sustainable development, gender perspective or ethical salary, which are added to Training Plans, Plans of employment, Entrepreneurship and company and the Promotion of proximity trade, as detailed by Councilwoman Sandra Gertrudix.

Gertrudix also announced the intention to modify the regulations of the Bureau to adjust it to reality “Since the current periodicity of the meetings, every 2 months, was not being met and is not operational”. After the meeting, it was agreed that the calls of the Employment Board will be held twice a year.

Of the entities and associations convened, representatives from AMADEM, Cedma, Raquel Payá special education school, Creama, which holds the Technical Secretariat of the Bureau, Red Cross, Adventist Church of the 7. municipal groups Citizens, Commitments, PP and PSPV, Labora, the UGT union, technicians of the Department of Equality and Youth and the Adventist Agency for Development and Assistance Resources (ADRA).
