«La lletra, amb rap enters!» That is what the teaching staff of CEIP Pou de la Muntanya thought, to offer their students a material with which to know and respect the region: the Marina Alta.

It all started last year, when the "Marca la comarca" project was being carried out at the center. This consisted of 4 large blocks:

There were many activities carried out in the first months (tastings of typical products, correspondence with other centers of the Navy, guided excursions, reading of legends, etc.). But the pandemic stopped everything.

This year, and linking with the Rapsodes project (which tries to bring musical culture closer to the little ones), the center decided to continue with the dissemination of popular culture. The Easter duties for the whole school were very simple: chew, taste, count and dance the region. With all the videos received, a video clip was edited.

The music is provided by the Dianense rapper Malcriat, who immediately accepted the proposal of the center. "It is a way of offering the little ones other musical possibilities that are not, for example, reaggeton." "This project allows me to make known the values of hip hop, such as the culture of effort or the fight for inequalities," says the rapper.

In addition, rap is complemented with a work dossier that has been prepared to work on the main competencies of the course in an interdisciplinary way. A lot of activities related to the region have been collected, which are intended to be disseminated among the different schools in the Marina Alta.

Other activities carried out in the center have been different musical workshops, such as that of Sandra Monfort, who took a tour of Valencian traditional music, and the visit of the artist Malcriat, who, in addition to explaining the main characteristics of rap music, performed the famous rap with all the students of the center.

A very positive experience, which shows that another education is possible.
