The story of 'Zita', the dog rescued by firefighters at the well, had been missing for six days
Last Friday, around noon, five firefighters from the Comarcal de Dénia Park went to the Torre del Gerro area to carry out a rescue. It is a dog, 'Zita', who was inside a well.
The pet was scared but in good health after having been away from home for six days. And it is that her disappearance happened last Saturday, July 4, in the late afternoon. As every day, this dog goes for a walk with its owner Teresa in the area of the shooting range and Lloma del Castañar.
That day, the dog was accompanied by more dogs and it escaped from the owner, who was walking along the path with a friend. They searched for her in the area, but since it was getting dark, they notified the local police of Xàbia and Dénia and the animal shelter in case they received the notice of a loose dog.
Without news of Zita, her family continues, for two days (Sunday and Monday) touring the area where they had walked, but they continue to find her, so they give her up for lost, "We thought that someone had taken it, since if they had found it and taken it to the protector, having a chip, they would have called us", explains Teresa Soliveres.
And suddenly, this past Friday, through the publication of Dénia.com, in which we announced the rescue, by the firefighters, of a dog inside a well, the family of this dog recognized her and called immediately to recover it.
Zita, despite having been away from home for six days and falling into this cistern, was in good health, but the family reports that there are wells, cisterns or wells that are completely open and abandoned, "It was a dog and it's fine, but a child or a person could have fallen. They should, to the corresponding administration, review these old buildings, since at present, in the case of this well, there is no signposting, the wall fell, and the limitation quotes that were there a long time ago are gone and are a danger "Teresa points out.
