The Valencian Community faces the last days of curfew, closed nightclubs and… masks?
The interdepartmental meeting of the Generalitat Valenciana to monitor the pandemic is approaching and with it come the first statements from the councilors and the president on the possible relief of restrictions that will be approved for the new de-escalation phase.
The current restrictions in the Valencian Community will cease to be in force next Sunday. When these fall, the Consell will have to manage new, lighter restrictions, as it is customary with each new phase, which it will announce tomorrow after the interdepartmental meeting. However, Ximo Puig has hinted what these will be.
End of curfew
The safest is that, after approximately 8 months, the Valencian Community will no longer have a curfew. Puig already advanced it in the last announcement, indicating that the current one would be the last fortnight with a restriction on night mobility to continue with the same incidence as at that time. Although this has risen a bit, it seems that it is not enough to pose a great risk. Similarly, the president reaffirmed his intention in an appearance on Tuesday.
In addition, the fact that the interdepartmental meeting is held on a Thursday could indicate that they have not required the approval of the Superior Court of Justice, on which they depended without a state of alarm to allow them to establish a curfew and which forced the announcements to be delayed until the Saturdays.
Nightlife is back
Puig also announced yesterday that nightlife will gradually reopen, and that this will be approved at this meeting. Discos and dance halls have been closed since last August.
With the approval of the Ministry of Health, which allowed the reopening of this sector in communities with a low level of contagion risk such as the Valencian Community, the closure of these businesses will be lifted tomorrow. However, for the moment they will only be able to reopen until 2 in the morning and it will not be possible to exceed 50% of the capacity inside or use the dance floor.
Regarding the closure of the hotel business, although it has not indicated anything concrete, everything indicates that the Generalitat would be studying extending the closing hours.
The masks will say goodbye "sooner rather than later"
Puig also took a position on the use of the mask. Like Fernando Simón did a few days ago, the president advocates studying ending the mandatory nature of the mask in outdoor spaces. This will be raised "later than soon", in his words, although it seems that for now it would only be used on beaches and natural parks. Of course, it all depends on reaching an agreement at the national level.
