The Fishermen's Association joins the statement against polls

25 June 2014 - 13: 22

Dénia continues its fight against oil exploration in the Mediterranean and has already added a new and important signature that adheres to the institutional declaration that will be sent to the European Parliament as a sign of society's rejection of polls.

This is the Fishermen's Association, which has not hesitated to support the cause to avoid the damages that these techniques would cause in our marine ecosystem and in the economy of the city.

Its president, Juan Antonio Sepulcre, stressed that its sector, the fishing one, may be the most directly affected by the surveys, although the repercussions will go further, seriously damaging tourism, the city's economic engine. He also explained that according to some studies available to the Brotherhood, "The oil that may be in our seabed is very little".

The signing of the Fishermen's Association is the first one that is expected to be collected in support of the institutional delineation that was drafted by the Xarxa of Mayors of the Marina Alta last April 16, and we know that in the coming weeks there will be many other entities those who sign against these polls.

The # DéniadiuNO campaign continues to seek signatures from individuals to reject surveys. At the moment, the signatures collected are almost 800 and it is expected that until October that figure will increase considerably to show the Ministry of Development the full rejection of these actions on our coast. The collection of signatures will return to the street next Friday on the trail of La Vía Street.
