The chapel of the hospice to all denominations will open

The full City Council has approved Dénia unanimously to open the chapel of the hospice to all cofesiones the state in compliance with the Constitution. Councilor greater, Elisabet Cardona explained that this decision is made following the request by the Evangélica Bautista Church The Trinity that all religions can access local municipal religious basis of the law on religious freedom.

In this way, from now on, the chapel of the Santa Lucia Residence will disappear religious symbols so that each user can access with their own and use it according to their beliefs. As explained by the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, the few images that exist in the chapel and that have been contributed by the residents over time, without involving any cost for the municipal coffers.

Although this decision was approved unanimously, several opposition parties showed some disagreement with the way to carry out this action. From the Popular Party, Pepa Sivera was surprised that this decision had not been raised before, and recalled that in the residence there are currently other needs. The popular councilor expressed the hope that the residents were consulted before making this decision.

From GDCU, Pepa Font regretted that the City has not been particularly sensitive to residents, the vast majority Catholics, looking for an option that the dismantling of the current chapel outside. as stated by the councilor, residents are now "symbol orphans". Citizens, meanwhile, supported the decision but agreed with the forms used.

Currently the chapel of the hospice is the only city that remained open to other religions. A few years ago the same operation was performed with the Municipal Cemetery chapel.
