Once after Christmas is time to take stock. 22 last December, the Assembly Local Red Cross in Dénia set in motion a new campaign that managed to involve 300 near commercial establishments throughout the region.

Until January 7, the participating merchants contributed 1% of its sales to the campaign, achieving at the moment, and failing to close the accounts, 5.832 euros of revenue. This money will go to various projects in each of the participating municipalities (Denia, Ondara, El Verger and Els Poblets), which have been agreed by the various committees that have met certain location.

Thus, Denia and Ondara have agreed to allocate the proceeds to projects aimed at seniors and their caregivers, one of the most disadvantaged groups by public aid. For its part, El Verger and Els Poblets proceeds go to educational projects. El Verger will go to the EMAUS association helps children at risk of social exclusion, while Els Poblets will be invested to improve the quality of education for elementary students.

From Red Cross Dénia expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of the campaign, even though it began with much haste, it has managed to arouse sensitivities in all sectors and has become an example for other assemblies of Red Cross throughout the country, who have already shown interest in this initiative.

From now on, Cruz Roja Dénia will devote its efforts to monitor the projects to which the benefits are intended, and its president, Ana Belén Quintanar hopes that this fact poses a starting point for closer cooperation between society and public administrations.
