José Monfort Monserrat, a neighbor of Gata, has composed a procession march in honor of the "Mare de Déu dels Desemparats", a work he has dedicated to the Fishermen's Association of Dénia. The march will premiere on May 11, during the procession that will run through the streets of the marine district and the port and will be performed by the Musical Artistic Group of Dénia.

According to the author, this work of 5 and a half minutes "is composed of seven voices and eighty musicians are needed to perform it." It took Monfort less than a month to compose it and it is not the first work he gives to the city. Already last July during the procession dedicated to the Blessed Sang, one of his marches was interpreted.

The Councilor for Culture, Pepa Font, the waitress of the Mare de Deu, Sara Marchante, and Maite Agulles, representing the Artistic Music Group of Denia have accompanied Monfort in the presentation of the work this morning in the city of Dénia.

José Monfort

José Monfort, its almost 80 years, is a young composer who barely spent a decade dedicated himself to music. Now, he is a prolific author who has concluded at this time 64 works and has already prepared scripts for another thirty. Only 2014 has composed six pieces of procession for several towns in the Marina Alta.

Among its short-term projects, Monfort recounts enthusiastically participating in a tribute "to all women in Spain" organized by a radio station in Valencia for the month of July and the release in September of a work dedicated to Josefa Domingo Catalá, Duchess of Almodóvar, Madame de Gata, Lliber and Xaló, on the occasion of the second centenary of his death.
