Javier Seguí, 2017/2018 president of the Rotary Club Dénia: «Thank you and Welcome»
I want to begin these lines with sincere thanks to each and every one of the Rotarians who are part of my club, for the confidence you have placed in electing me your next XXXIV President, in the Change of Necklaces. Rotary is an international service organization, composed of 35.000 clubs and over 1.200.000 people, friends and leaders that take action to solve problems and that together we generate a positive change in the communities of our countries and abroad.
We meet in our clubs once a week to comply with our guiding principle, «La amistad y el compañerismo como ocasión de servir». Among other things, Rotarians around the world, we allocate 16 million hours of volunteer work each year, 2.500 millions of children have been vaccinated against polio, we promote peace, fight against illiteracy, poverty, clean water supply , Diseases, and we support the education and development of local economies.
The Rotary Club of Denia, had delivered the charter in the year 1984 and personally I feel a special pride and respect for all the Presidents who have been part of our club, with its corresponding boards of directors and of course all the partners who Have contributed by their effort and dedication to that we have an increasingly better society. Our Club, year after year, forms a team to carry out local, national and international actions and projects, in order to make life easier for those who need it most.
Contributing to the social transformation of the most vulnerable people, through a commitment to work, solidarity and collaboration, it improves their quality of life and above all, makes us feel more useful in the society in which we live, it is wonderful to feel As we Rotarians we turn to the problems of others, because during all these years, we have felt many joys, responding to the needs of the most disadvantaged, this is really our DNA.
Como anécdota la primera obra social de nuestro Club fue en el año 1984 y se donó a la Cruz Roja de Dénia una caravana equipada con material de primeros auxilios, a partir de ese momento la ayuda en nuestra comunidad se ha ido consolidando a través de diversos proyectos. En estos últimos años hemos tenido la ocasión de poder colaborar con el Conservatorio de Música de Dénia, Agrupación Artística Musical de Dénia, Cáritas, Colegio San Vicente Ferrer, Residencia de Ancianos, Hermanas Carmelitas, Ermita del Pare Pere, Parroquia de la Asunción, Proyecto Hombre, Ermita de San Juan, Institutos, Convento de Agustinas, Concejalía de Juventud, Club Deportivo Dénia, AECC, Amadem, Aprosdeco, Colegio de Acogida de Les Rotes…
Internationally recognized are our youth exchange programs, where participants are offered the opportunity to learn a foreign language, discover other cultures and become citizens of the world or our RYLA seminars, in which these same young people learn to have fun and raise Your self-esteem
Our Rotary wheel, symbolizes more than a service club, represents caring and sharing, in which it portrays our motto of "Giving of Yes, before thinking of Yes". Welcome to all those groups, entities, associations, non-profit organizations or people who share all these values and want to work side by side with us, given that our doors have been, are and will always be open to get a place from the world Better to live.
