Salut Intersindical warns, with the new UAR Marina Salud lost in maternity beds

22 2014 April - 00: 00

This week the Inter association Salut de Dénia, reported that last April 4 the direction of Marina Health issued the opening of the High Performance Unit (UAR) in the maternity ward.

With this decision, part of the beds intended for mothers and newborn babies, 22 in total, will be reduced to 12 since the other 10 "will be assigned to the UAR".

This new model of Marina Salud means that in the same room nurses are going to be mothers and newborns with any other patient, whether male or female, of any age and with any condition short stay (trauma, surgery, etc.).

As reported by the Intersindical Salut Dénia, the past 9 of April had entered the maternity ward three men 47, 58 and 61 years, two of them with pathology of trauma and one of general and digestive surgery, in addition to several women of 46, 77, 67, 78, 50, and 74 years, in charge of general surgery, thoracic surgery, otorhinolaryngology and internal medicine.

What means the UAR

According to Intersindical Salut Dénia, this entails "an alarming danger for mothers and newborns", since "adequate conditions of safety, quality and efficiency are lost (increased risk of infection, loss of privacy, less attention by staff to mothers and newborns due to increased care load, reduced breastfeeding training, etc.) ".

Intersindical Salut Dénia has taken the opportunity to point out that "the situation at the Dénia Hospital is very serious, and both the Department of Health and its Commissioner in the Department of Denia can no longer keep looking the other way".
