The incidence of the coronavirus continues to increase without remedy throughout the Marina Alta. So much so that Dénia is already the health department with the highest rate of infections in the entire region.

We are facing a new wave that is reaching figures equal to and even higher than the two waves of 2020. However, advanced vaccination is helping hospitalizations to be much lower than they were then.

In these moments in which the Marina Alta is with its worst incidence data since the beginning of February, the hospital is enduring with hardly any saturation.

As confirmed by the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, at the moment there are only three people admitted to the Dénia Hospital. One of them, aged 90, is currently stable without serious symptoms having received the full vaccination schedule.

A man in his 50s with strong symptoms has also been admitted, who had refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19. "This is one of the risks and problems that we have in Spain: people who do not want to be vaccinated," says the Dianense mayor. The third admitted is a 25-year-old young man who had not yet been cited for the vaccine.

The hospital also notes with concern that many people refuse to have PCR or participate in scans. According to forecasts, next week the data will be even worse, which will imply, following this way, a night lockdown.

Grimalt asks for responsibility to return to normality

The mayor has issued a video on his Facebook channel visibly affected by the meeting they have had with those responsible for the Dénia health department. In it, he shows his concern for the current situation and for what is to come, which is possibly the worst.

In addition, he has asked for a change in attitude to try to avoid a nightly confinement and that sectors such as the hotelier must once again sacrifice themselves for the recklessness of the rest.
