HLA San Carlos de Dénia collaborates with the Association against Cancer (AECC) to help in research

February 17 from 2018 - 00: 00

Cancer has become one of the greatest health problems of the population. In 2020 it is estimated that there will be a few new 250.000 cases in Spain. Oncology can not afford waiting lists, so the oncology service of HLA San Carlos de Dénia provides direct and immediate attention.

HLA San Carlos Dénia has, for about 12 years, an Oncology Unit formed by specialists with extensive experience such as doctors Andrés Poveda, Carlos Emilio Fernández-Martos and Ricardo Yaya Tur. The Oncology Unit of HLA San Carlos treats one year between 100 and 150 cases, the most frequent being colon, breast and lung cancer.

The hospital of the HLA Group has innovative techniques for the prevention and detection of these diseases in a radiodiagnostic area, such as a state-of-the-art mammogram.

Their strong commitment to prevent this disease is reflected in the collaboration that the hospital carries out throughout the year with associations that fight for research and early detection of this disease, such as the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). This week, for example HLA San Carlos has collaborated with volunteers from Calpe, Benissa, Ondara, El Vergel and Teulada of the AECC in a campaign to collect funds for research against this disease that has been a success.
