The mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, has delivered the Municipal Anti-eviction Pact to the current Director General of Housing, Rehabilitation and Urban Regeneration, Alberto Sanchís, in a working meeting that took place on Tuesday morning at the Department of Housing, Works Public and Vertebration of the Territory.

Grimalt, who attended the meeting accompanied by the Councilor MªJosep Ripoll explained that this issue is one of the commitments made by signing the covenant request the Generalitat Valenciana law creating a social function of housing.

The Municipal Anti-Eviction Pact was unanimously approved by all the political groups of the city in the plenary session last August and supposes, as indicated by councilor Óscar Mengual, "A proposal to have a minimum of performance in this problem that affects many people in our town today."

This initiative consists of three basic points. First, the City proposes to extend the Joint Committee, formed by the departments of Housing and Social Welfare with the Stop Evictions platform immediately, and we want to adhere more associations and financial institutions.

The second point is dedicated to dealing with banks. The City Council will meet with representatives of all banks to have temporary sessions so you can take agreements. The aim is that these entities work together to avoid the maximum that people will take their homes.

Point three is the one that has already been carried out with this meeting: talk to the Department of Housing of the Generalitat Valenciana so that from this administration is carried out what is necessary for the fundamental right to housing is met.
