The dream comes true: the headquarters of the University of Alicante in Dénia starts walking

Last March, the City Council of Dénia and the University of Alicante signed an agreement through which the capital of the Marina Alta became the university headquarters of the provincial educational entity. Three months later that agreement has materialized in the official inauguration of the headquarters, which will start its activities next September.

From that month a wide educational offer will take place in Dénia with the aim of bringing the university closer to current and future students and society in general. That is why from the University of Alicante will be scheduled acts of interest to the citizens of Dianense and its area of ​​influence.

The academic coordinator of the university headquarters of Dénia, Pascual Garrido, explained that during the last quarter of 2016 there will be a conference on Cervantes in the framework of the celebration of the fourth centenary of his death by Miguel Ángel Lozano, professor of the University of Alicante. In addition the theatrical function will be programmed 2 appetizers and half in which will be placed on the stage hors d'oeuvres written by Cervantes, and there is a series of lectures on gastronomy and the importance of linking it to a university degree. Throughout the next course, the headquarters of the University of Alicante in Dénia will program works of theater, dance and performances of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Alicante.

In this way, through work sessions and informative days, the University of Alicante will feed the cultural and educational agenda of Dénia and the region "with the desire to extend knowledge to the daily reality of citizenship", explained the rector of the University of Alicante, Manuel Palomar.

Palomar said during his speech that one of the main strategic lines to be promoted at the Dianense headquarters will be gastronomy, an area in which Dénia is a world leader after recognition as Creative City of Gastronomy UNESCO.

From the university headquarters will work to disseminate the educational offer given by the university, and will host readings of final degree or master related to Dénia and the region. Likewise, monographic courses will be programmed and collaboration agreements will be signed with companies in the region for the benefit of their students.

Both the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the councilor for culture and education, Rafa Carrió, highlighted the firm commitment of the city council to support this project, historically demanded by citizens and that will materialize next September.
