The cleaning of the beaches has removed tons of algae 2.400 from 1 March

The Department of the Environment has intensified the cleaning and maintenance work on the beaches of Dénia during the first weeks of March with the aim of preparing them for the arrival of visitors during Holy Week and Easter.

From the 1 of March, the company concessionary of the works, Pavasal, has reinforced the endowment of machinery and personnel that correspond to the average season with extra means. In this way, two more pawns have been assigned to the 5 team, leading drivers and two pawns, and three extra vehicles have been added to the four heavy machinery media that usually operate in this period, which extends to the 15 in June.

The work carried out by the personnel consists of cleaning the sand using a mechanical sieve, mechanically collecting algae, manually collecting waste and cleaning the wooden walkways distributed on the beaches. The surface to be covered is 575.000 m2 of sandy beach; 102.000 m2 of dune surface, which is manually cleaned, and 6.690 square meters of cliff surface (Les Rotes). There is also a provision of 100 litter bins distributed on the beaches and 35 accesses with walkways installed.

During the month of March they have been extracted from the beaches of the city near 2.400 tons of algae. Removal work is carried out until last Wednesday.
