The Real Club Náutico Dénia presented the "XVI City of Denia Trophy for High-water Fishing Curricán" that will be held next weekend, July 6 and 7, coinciding with the start of the city's festivities. Jaime Portolés, president of the club; Rafa Carrió, Deputy Mayor of the Dénia City Council; Juan Ferrer Salines, new fishing member of the Dianense club; Amaya Sáez, the club's manager and Enérgico Carrasco, the club's events coordinator, took part in a presentation that revealed the latest details of the popular contest.

Jaime Portolés, took advantage of the presentation to present the new fishing vocal, Juan Ferrer Salines, an amateur, partner for years, great fisherman and sports connoisseur. The event already has 15 boats registered that will take the starting line next Saturday to bring the best catches to port.

They may take positions within a radius of 60 miles from the port of Dénia, as confirmed by Juan Ferrer. The new fishing vowel of the club commented that "there is currently a lot of fish in the sea and it could be a contest of numerous catches." The species to capture in the height contest are large pelagics such as albacore, needles, marlins or swords or sharks, with the exclusive help of artificial lures.

Activity Schedule

This high altitude fishing trophy is one of the most significant in the annual calendar for the community of dianenses fishermen and neighboring cities, who will come on Friday 6 in July to the 17 hours to collect the equipment for the day. On Saturday, July 7, at 6 am, the departure signal will be issued at sea so that each boat takes the course it wishes to make its best catches. The deadline for arrival at the weigh-in is at 17:59 p.m. and at 22 p.m., the terrace of Rte. Sloops will be filled with fishermen to celebrate the closing dinner of the Trophy that will announce the names of the champions.

The companies MasyMas, Quinter and Gasorba, once again, will be the collaborators of the event providing the fishing day and the prizes of the winners.

Rafa Carrió, vice mayor of the city offered his support from the Town Hall. Carrió wanted to give the importance that it deserves to the sea of ​​the city, encouraging to educate from the childhood to the citizens to create a Dénia facing the sea. The mayor insisted that it is necessary to give the widest spread to the events of the sea, specifically to an event such as the Ciudad de Dénia Trophy that is part of the program of the town's patron saint festivities.
