The PSPV Dénia proposes to urge the Consell to save the fallero sector

04 June 2020 - 15: 18

The socialist group in the City Council of Dénia will present to the plenary session in June a motion urging the Consell de la Generalitat Valenciana to "open a line of economic and logistical collaboration with the unionized artists of fallas and bonfires".

With this request, the PSPV-PSOE municipal group wants to support a sector, with companies also in Dénia and the region, which has been affected by the health crisis, due to the "initial postponement and definitive cancellation of the Fallas y Hogueras 2020 parties". "The paralysis of craft activity", added the motion, "puts at risk the continuity of an autochthonous profession that is difficult to replace" and that gives life to a festival, the Fallas, declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

In addition to a line of aid, the motion also asks the Valencian Government, echoing the initiative launched by the Burriana City Council, "the exceptional protection of the Upper Cycle of Fallas Artist and Stage Construction, which is currently being studied in Alicante, València, Benicarló and Burriana, as a guarantee of the professionalization of the trade and the continuity and improvement over time".

Support for the declaration of the Moors and Christians as a Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest

On the other hand, the PSPV-PSOE will also propose to the Plenary of the City Council of Dénia the approval of an institutional declaration of support for the initiative of the Federation of Moors and Christians of Dénia to achieve the declaration of a Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest.

The declaration responds to the commitment to work side by side, FEMMICC and the City Council, to present this petition to the Generalitat.
