M. Carmen Fernández, president of the party, insisted that progress in the actions committed to in the 2019-2023 government program, "despite the all kinds of unexpected incidents that have accompanied these first two years," has allowed us to reach at the halfway point of the legislature with a city in full transformation, "as we assured that we would do to the citizens." "The absolute majority that the voters granted to the PSPV-PSOE deserves this good work that is being done."

"Unstoppable good work despite everything, the storms of 2019 and the pandemic of 2020, thanks to a team of 12 councilors and 10," added Fernández.

Regarding the current issues, the executive reviewed the closure of Marqués de Campo Street to traffic, considered "necessary and very beneficial for this new model of city that we are working on"; in the same line as the redevelopment of Plaza de Valgamediós, Calle Mayor and the adjacent streets.

Balance of the PSPV of these 2 years

Of the ambitious program presented to the 2019 municipal elections, there are already 10 main actions that have come true or are in the process of materializing.

1. More and better public spaces

The redevelopment of the Valgamediós square and the Mayor and Pare Pere streets, the Tenor Cortis square and adjacent streets have transformed the Oeste neighborhood in a few months, a space now designed for people, with pedestrian spaces, and also aesthetically adapted to the character historical of this area of Dénia.

The closure to traffic of Marqués de Campo already allows us to imagine how the main road of the city will look when the redevelopment project is executed, also of Cop and the Glorieta, with a grant from the Alicante Provincial Council already granted.

The improvement of the Camí de Sant Joan is evident and undeniable. An access road into the city from the Montgó that is now walkable and green.

2. A cleaner Dénia, by contract

And after the summer, once the service regulated by a new specification that is much more demanding, sustainable and adapted to current needs has been awarded, we will begin to notice the changes, of which we have to be a part with civility and responsibility.

3. Public parking, 5 minutes from downtown

Some 3.000 public and free parking spaces along the entire perimeter of the city to facilitate this transition from Dénia to a city for people, free of cars and smoke. And in les Rotes, a crowded area in summer, the parking lot of the old miniature golf course, which after the refurbishment works now under tender will have room for more than 130 vehicles.

4. The future university city

In the Torrecremada estate, which the Dénia City Council will rehabilitate, in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana. Altogether, a university campus where the University of Alicante will implement the Degree in Gastronomy.

5. The Pla Edificant

The boys and girls of the Xara have already opened the new school. And currently we have a tender for the new CEIP Pou children's classroom with a budget of 1.374.308,57 euros, the adaptation and rehabilitation of the IES Historiador Chabás, with a budget of 688.782,84 euros, the adaptation and expansion works of IES Maria Ibars, with a budget of 2.125.502,87 euros.

In addition, we have obtained the delegation of powers for the construction of the new CEE Raquel Payá with a budget of 6.1 million. And in the educational field we have started the procedures with the Generalitat Valenciana for the creation of the new integrated fp center “Gent del Mar”.

6. Eliminate the architectural barrier posed by the train track

An objective that is slowly materializing, thanks to the contributions made to the Department by the Dénia City Council to take advantage of the works on line 9 of the TRAM and thus improve the connection between the area in the north and in the south of Joan Fuster avenue .

7. The Espai fester

The location has already been decided, validated by the city's party entities: the current Rodat school, the student body of which will go to the new Pou Children's classroom.

8. Improvement and modernization of sports facilities

The plans in this area had to be reformulated as a result of the storms at the end of 2019 that caused significant damage to the sports center. Even so, the pavilion is already in operation again, there are many improvements, of equipment and materials, that have been carried out in the different sports facilities with the advice of the clubs and work is already underway on the project of a new sports center for Dénia. And above all, the new athletics track and the grass of the Diego Mena soccer field are a reality.

9. More transparency

Regarding the transparency indicators, the Department of Transparency has gone in a year from turning 80 to turning 103, which has allowed the Dénia City Council to go from position 25 to 12 in the ranking of transparent city councils of the Valencian Community. The goal is to meet the 130 indicators in the next 6 months.

10. The second residence

Already included in the forecasts of the Generalitat, within the new Coexistence Plan of Social Services Infrastructures 2021-2025, in addition to the specific Center for people with chronic mental illness (CEEM) and the Center for Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CRIS).

And all this, against all odds...
