Hospital de Dénia figure 33 days the average wait for surgery

In the first semester of 2015, the Dénia Hospital has placed the average waiting period to be operated on at 32,9 days, compared to the 57 of the rest of the public hospitals in the Valencian Community and the 87 of the surgical waiting list of the rest from the country.

According to reports from the Hospital, below average delay 33 days are: Thoracic Surgery with 6 days; Vascular Surgery and Dermatology, both with 19; Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic-Reconstructive, with 20; Urology and ophthalmology, with 30 days and the General and Digestive Surgery with 32.

Ángel Giménez, manager of the Department of Health of Dénia, was satisfied with some data «que sitúan a la sanidad de la Marina Alta entre los departamentos con menor demora media para ser intervenido».

Donation of an ultrasound and tomosynthesis

This week, the Hospital of Dénia have acquired, thanks to the collaboration of The Massonic Home of Valencia, an ultrasound and tomosynthesis, which have been financed thanks to the donation of 102.400 euros made by the association.

Hospital manager welcomed this important collaboration and explained that "This technology is essential for early diagnosis and constitutes the best chance of cure for patients suffering from a tumor".

The apparatus tomosynthesis facilitates visualization of lesions and can be more accurate in breast cancer management. Meanwhile the ultrasound help in the diagnosis of possible tumors in the abdominal, renal, pelvic or vascular area.

The treasurer of the association, Hugh Parker, has also made a donation in a personal capacity by which have been able to acquire furniture for the waiting room of Oncology Day Hospital. And that Parker spent many hours at the hospital when he accompanied his wife to the necessary treatments to overcome his illness and wanted to thank this gesture health treatment center staff.
