In November of 2017 Dénia adhered to the Pla Edificant of the Generalitat Valenciana, by means of which the consistory was in charge of the writing, awarding, construction and contracting of the most demanded educational infrastructures in the city and the Conselleria took charge of the expenses . In this way, the autonomous government responds to the educational infrastructures in need of improvement, for which there is money, but not material time.

A year and a half after that agreement, Dénia plans to invest a total of 18 million euros in the improvement, adaptation and expansion of several centers and in the construction of two others, Raquel Payá and La Xara. The City Council estimates that all the projects that have been included in the plan will be finished in the next two years.

This Friday, the Minister of Education Vicent Marzà, visited the facilities of the Vessanes school, where he took stock of the Pla Edificant in Dénia and the Marina Alta.

In Dénia, improvements have been planned in nine centers in the municipality. The first project completed was that of the Cervantes school, consisting of changing the windows for a cost of 164.333 euros.

Currently, the plenary session of the City Council has approved the delegation of the improvements to the roof of the Llebeig school (265.347 euros); the construction of the early childhood education building at the Pou de la Muntanya school (43 euros); improvements to the roof of the children's area and the dining room of the Les Vessanes school (2.519.513,94 euros); the improvement in the structural problems of Historian Chabàs (416.854,61 euros); the new construction of the La Xara school (889.958,24 euros); and the expansion of the María Ibars (3.967.938,00 euros).

There is still a need for the delegations to approve two projects in full: improvements in the canteen and accessibility in the Pare Pere de Jesús Pobre school (901.059,89 euros) and the construction of a new building for the special education school Raquel Payá (6.516.299,52 euros) .

Classrooms of 2 years

The Minister of Education has also visited the center's free two-year classroom: «During four years we have been expanding equal opportunities for families with Xarxa Llibres, more dining room scholarships and also in the 0-3 years section. When we arrived, many families could not choose to take their sons and daughters to preschool for economic reasons. Now a step forward has been taken in this regard with the aid of the Child Bonus and 14.400 free 2-year-old places throughout the territory. Our objective is to continue in this line.

The head of Education of the Generalitat wanted to highlight that "in the Marina Alta we have 348 free two-year places in 9 municipalities of the region", and continued: "Without forgetting another key element: the increase in teaching staff to reverse the cuts of other times. That is why we have managed to incorporate 6.000 more teachers into the educational system, of which more than 100 have joined the Marina Alta.
