The Dénia City Council considers it nonsense that the delimitation of the coast is done before regeneration

January 31 from 2023 - 17: 31

The mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the Councilor for Territory, Maria Josep Ripoll, have met today with a representation of the affected residents to assess the public information of the new proposal for the delimitation of the maritime-terrestrial public domain of Coasts for them Marines, specifically for the area between the Molinell River and the first breakwater (3,5 km).

The owners have been represented by Paco García and Pedro Pastor (Almadrava-Estanyó), Juanra Moratal (Playas Norte), David Fornés (Deveses) and Pere Cardona (Almadrava).

The new delimitation proposal affects, according to the calculations of the owners, some 110 homes that would remain within the public domain, with the consequent damages to the property.

From the municipal government, the mayor and councilor have expressed their opinion in agreement with that of the neighborhood regarding the enormous impact that the new delimitation would have on the houses if it becomes effective. In this sense, Maria Josep Ripoll has highlighted “the contradiction involved in approving the definitive delimitation of the public domain in an area that is about to be regenerated; therefore, shortly, the beach at that point will have gained 60 meters from the sea and will be protected by the new breakwaters provided for in the project and by a dune line in front of the houses”.

"For us, and we agree with the owners, it makes more sense that the delimitation proposal be made when the regeneration of Las Deveses has been completed," added Ripoll.

Motion to ask Costas to stop the record of delimitation of the public domain

The municipal representatives have advanced to the spokespersons of the neighborhood association that the objective of the government team is to agree on a motion with all the political groups to ask Costas "to paralyze the file for the delimitation of the maritime-terrestrial public domain in les Deveses until to finish executing the regeneration project" and end political contacts at the regional and state level.

It also reinforces the suitability of the paralyzation of the delimitation, Ripoll recalled, the modification of the Law of Coasts planned by the central Government.

In fact, in February 2022, the Plenary of the Dénia City Council already submitted a motion to the Ministry of Ecological Transition expressing disagreement with aspects of the current Law, such as, for example, the lack of financial compensation for owners who are affected by the future delimitation.
