Dénia City Council freezes quotas terrace bars and restaurants

22 July 2012 - 00: 05

The City Council of Dénia has approved the freezing of the Public Road Occupancy fees paid by the terraces of bars and restaurants throughout Dénia.

This measure has been carried out with the intention of not harming a more dynamic sector of the local economy, so that the 2011 rates will be maintained.

The spokesman for the Municipal Government team, Vicente Chelet, explained that this measure is adopted because “in times of crisis like the current one, we must bet on maintaining employment, which advises reducing said taxation. It is about taking advantage of the economic movement produced by the hotel industry in Dénia in the summer season”.

However, those entrepreneurs who receive two sanctions for not complying with the regulations of Occupancy of Public Road will pay the fees that would correspond to this year.

Chelet has also announced the next pedestrianization of a stretch of Calle Fontanella (between La Mar street and Plaza de Fontanella). This decision comes from a proposal of the neighbors and by the neighborhood association Baix la Mar.
