After several valuations, the City Council has decided to bet on the repair of the damages of the pavilion as a temporary solution. They seek to repair it so that they can use it as soon as possible and avoid extending the displacements of the 2000 people who used it and have now been forced to, even in some cases, carry out their activities in other villages.

However, they continue to carry out a study for the creation of a new pavilion «digno y actualizado, conforme Dénia se merece», Vincent Grimalt has stated. They are already considering several possible locations for the new one to replace the sports center, which is 40 years old.

Even so, they have opted to also repair the old one because the jobs and «papeleo» until opening other facilities will require a minimum of two years. «No podemos estar dos años enviando a la gente a diferentes pueblos, por lo que hemos decidido repararlo para que puedan volver cuanto antes», affirms the mayor.

Although the amount to which the repair amounts is high, Grimalt has underlined the important social cost, for which he has expressed his gratitude to all the towns that offered their facilities in hours, and to the clubs and their members for their sacrifice and understanding In addition, he has praised the work of the Department of Sports which has relocated all athletes and teams in 8 days.

Provisional equipment locations

The Councilor for Sports, Raúl García de la Reina, has confirmed the relocation of all pavilion users between different points. Several of the classes that were taught there are now using the Llunàtics and Artístics facilities; the volleyball and rhythmic teams have been welcomed by the different institutes; Dénia Futsal, Garbí and Dénia Básquet will carry out the matches and training between the Joan Fuster and Beniarbeig pavilion; adapted sport will take place in Llunàtics; and the CFS Mar Dénia will be divided between Joan Fuster and Ràfol.
