Residential care support is a key issue in the fight against COVID-19 in the Marina Alta. To do this, a team of professionals has been formed to provide clinical and logistical support to the 17 residences in the region.

The group, formed since the start of the pandemic alert, is made up of health professionals from the DSD and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Health. Professionals from the Primary Care Directorate participate, in addition to a doctor and a nurse. The latter are the liaison professionals, in charge of daily monitoring of the residences, through the directors, doctors or personnel responsible for the center.

The objective pursued is to maximize prevention measures, as well as the control of all residents to avoid massive infections, as has happened in other Autonomous Communities. For this, patients with symptoms are followed up every 24 hours and a review of the rest of the residents, virus detection tests -in cases where it is indicated- or isolation measures, if necessary.

The work team also carries out support tasks in logistics, prevention, sample collection and protocol training, such as the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment.

This working group has supported the residences in the design of specific contingency plans, providing them with a guiding document. The document contemplates the attention to the resident, proposing 4 different phases -green, yellow, orange and red-, depending on the evolutionary course of the potential disease.
