Hospital de Dénia diploma program for its sustainable waste management

Dénia Hospital has recently received recognition for its sustainable healthcare waste management program, which indicates that the results of the implementation of an environmental strategy that has begun with a new waste management policy that has contributed to minimizing the environmental impact of Marina Salud during 2015.

This recognition, awarded by SRCL Consenur, has been validated by Bureau Veritas accredited for certification of international standards international entity. The collected environmental improvements focus on two sections: decrease air pollution and natural resource. In the first section, the actions taken have reduced emissions of carbon dioxide (CO76), an amount equivalent to what is capable of assimilating the area occupied hectares of forest in 2 132 tons. In the second, the Marina Health Hospital has needed less plastic 195 tons last year for the management of medical waste, which is 264.286 cubic meters of plastic that have not been sent to landfill.

To achieve this recognition, the Hospital has launched a series of environmental measures such as the change in the type of waste containers, application of controls on machinery throughout the healthcare complex in order to prevent the emission of gases into the atmosphere, recycling of components and revaluation of waste.
