Goodbye and good wishes: this is the end of an intense government legislature in Dénia

12 June 2019 - 15: 47

The City of Dénia has put this Wednesday final point to the 2015 / 2019 legislature with the celebration of the last full of the current municipal corporation, thus closing four years of PSPV and Compromís government with the support of Podemos, in opposition to the opposition Popular, Citizens and GDCU.

But they were not all. The mayor, Vicent Grimalt, has not presided over this last plenary meeting when he was on a trip to Italy, at a meeting of UNESCO. So Rafa Carrió has served as acting mayor. Although it was only a plenary session, with only the approval of the previous minutes as the only item on the agenda, the floor has been given to the councilors who leave the corporation and will not be part of the City Council for the next four years.

Álex Rondenkirchen personalizes his farewell

Álex Rodenkirchen thanked the support of the rest of the councilors, especially Maria Mut, as well as the officials of the house. De Pepa Font, who abandons politics, has said that «se merece salir por la puerta grande», while Sergio Benito, who also leaves politics, has transferred «creo que es un error que deje la política porque es una persona muy técnica, muy válida».

Those who stay have wished «que hagan todo lo posible para mejorar nuestra sociedad».

The Councilors of Citizens will not repeat either

Sergio Benito and Esteban Chornet, representatives of Citizens in the City Council during this term, are two other councilors who will not repeat as of next Saturday. Chornet has claimed that «aquí dejo 21 amigos», and everyone has thanked them for their help in the time they have served as alderman.

Benito, por su parte, ha sido muy breve en su despedida, también con el agradecimiento como bandera, y afirmando que «en la política estamos todos de paso, y es necesario dejar paso a gente nueva».

Pepa Font and Miguel Llobell, two veterans who also leave

Pepa Font, one of the veterans of the corporation, leaves politics, her passion, congratulating the PSOE for the victory in the elections, and recommending that «ahora que no necesitan a nadie es cuando tienen que demostrar quienes son», but reminding them that, in spite of the absolute majority, half of the votes have gone to other formations.

Miguel Llobell will not be, after 16 years, in local politics either. The councilor of GDCU has wished luck to those who remain, his way of wishing luck to all citizens.

The councilors of the PP remember the officials

The three councilors of the Popular Party that will not repeat in the next term, Pepa Sivera, Isabel Gallego and Sabela Miñana, have agreed to thank and praise the work of the staff of the consistory.

Sivera recalled that «sin ellos no seríamos nada», and has appreciated the support of those who have trusted her all these years. Isabel Gallego, meanwhile, has remembered everything she has learned in these years dedicated to politics, while Sabela Miñana has wished the new government team much luck.

Josep Crespo, the only one of Compromís that does not repeat

Councilman Josep Crespo is the only one of his colleagues Compromís who will not repeat in the next term, by personal decision. The councilor has affirmed that «solo los que estamos aquí sabemos la responsabilidad que comporta ser concejal de tu ciudad». Crespo has stressed that «ha sido todo un orgullo» work these almost nine years in the City of Dénia.

Message from the mayor

Before the end of the session, the spokesperson of the PSPV, Maria Josep Ripoll, has transferred the message of affection from the mayor to those who will not continue in the next term, as well as welcoming those who will start working next Saturday.
