Dénia have better surveillance and rescue in 2013

The summer of 2012 is behind us and it is time to take stock. The tourism department directed by Pepa Font yesterday presented the data together with Enrique Sastre, president of the Red Cross Dénia, awarded the service.

A total of 60 volunteers have participated this year in the surveillance, assistance, first aid and rescue work on the Dianenses beaches at the 8 lifeguard stations and 16 elevated chairs on our coast.

In total 7.973 interventions have been made, most of them (4.238) concerning health care. 23 have lost children, has served 14 boats, there have been 82 8 rescues and evacuations to hospitals. Sastre said this year have significantly decreased the attention by jellyfish sting.

Much of interventions (3.000) were performed on the beach of Punta del Raset, being the most bathers is followed by Las Brisas (1.700 interventions) and Les Fonts (1.586 interventions).

Accessible bathroom service on the beaches of Dénia

During last summer, a total of 125 users required the adapted bathroom service that is offered on the beaches of Punta del Raset, Marineta Cassiana and Bovetes. This service has 9 amphibious chairs, 3 bath chairs, 8 crutches and shaded areas for bathers, mostly Spanish, but also French, Dutch, Italian and English.

These three areas have also benefited bathroom with ramp, shower, adapted locker room, parking for users and shaded areas, plus a home collection service with the Red Cross vehicle adapted.

2013 Enhancements

For next summer the Department of Tourism will extend the high season two weeks, going to start 1 June. In addition, the mayor of the area, Pepa Font, reported a project to install more masts on the beaches busiest users to better indicate the status of the sea.
