Dénia request the declaration of cultural interest for the Convents of the Augustinians, San Antonio and Jesus Pobre

23 March 2017 - 11: 39

The Municipality of Dénia has set the goal of obtaining the declaration of Cultural Interest in three of the most significant religious buildings in the city: the convent of the Agustinas, on Loreto street; the convent of Jesús Pobre and the convent of San Antonio, all founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

This request is made in order to take measures to encourage the protection of the most significant assets of the built heritage of the city and the municipality of Dénia, in order to obtain formulas that allow stricter control by the competent authority ; facilitate access to funding lines ruled today reserved only for the declared BIC heritage; and ensure greater public accessibility to these assets.

Applications are made in stages, depending on the priorities indicated by the consistory itself, including the state of global conservation of buildings and the characteristics of each property, among other circumstances.

The first building on which this statement will request the convent of Our Lady of Loreto or the Augustinian Recollect nuns of Denia, inaugurated by King Philip III in 1604. In regular full month of March a motion asking the mayor to the Ministry of Culture and Education the beginning of the record to declare BIC the convent, within the category of buildings or monuments will be presented.

At the time the declaration is requested, the complete file will be sent and a favorable report will be requested from the Consell Valencià de Cultura, the Universitat de València and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, consultative institutions of the Generalitat in matters of cultural heritage.

The second well monumental on which the declaration of BIC will be the convent hospice of Jesus Pobre, founded in 1642 by Pare Pere, be asked and, finally, will be asked for the convent of San Antonio, founded in 1587 at the request of the Council the Villa.
