Dénia asks Correos to extend until October 31 to stop distributing in the outskirts

February 23 from 2018 - 07: 15

A few months ago, Correos reported that, when 5 arrived in March, its dispatchers would stop sending ordinary mail to the areas stipulated as special environments. This means that, in Dénia, the residents of the Montgó, La Pedrera, Les Rotes, Les Marines and Les Deveses areas will no longer receive correspondence in their homes as they have done up to now. This was notified by Correos after the rejection of the National Commission of the Market and the Competition to the allegations presented by the City Council and neighborhood associations.

Since this decision is known, the City of Dénia has held numerous meetings with Correos in order to solve the problem that will entail for the many neighbors who live in the affected areas. Currently, both parties are working on the development of a proposal to install multi-family mailboxes to receive ordinary correspondence.

While this proposal is being prepared, the City of Dénia has asked the Post Office to postpone, until October's 31, the cancellation of the distribution in those areas.

As Councilwoman Maria Josep Ripoll explained in the plenary session on Thursday, the City Council is the one that is working with Correos to install these mailboxes, but once they are installed, it will be the neighbors who will bear the maintenance costs, in the case of who want to have a mailbox in the new locations.

For his part, the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, recalled that the City Council has been in charge of drafting the allegations presented by the residents affected by this decision.
