Dénia is committed to offer at least one 75% of the cultural program in Valencia

The city of Dénia will sign a collaboration agreement in the coming weeks to promote the knowledge and use of Valencian with the Valencian Academy of Language (AVL).

This agreement, which will have to be previously ratified by the plenary session, commits the municipality to provide the municipal facilities for holding congresses, conferences, book presentations and other activities organized or sponsored by the AVL. In addition, Dénia also undertakes to offer at least one 75% of its cultural programming and training offer in Valencian. As for the training, the AVL asks the city council to offer free Valencian courses for its workers.

For its part, the Valencian Academy of the Language is committed to advising on language staff serving the town hall and also providing advice on matters of toponymy and signaling municipal offices.

In addition, the council will from now partaker of all grant lines that can create the AVL and will have publications that the academy facilitates public libraries. The agreement also favor that incorporate the students of schools and institutes of Denia, in preference scheme, to programs broadcast language and literature organized by the Academy.

This agreement will last for five years.

BLOC requires that all communications are made in Valencia

Despite agreeing with this agreement, Josep Crespo, councilor of the BLOC in Dénia, believes that the government team should make Valencian its vehicular language. To do this, they require that internal communications, administration web pages and social networks make Valencian their main language.
