modification of the Protected Areas Act of Valencia that was contemplated in the law accompanying the budgets of the Generalitat de 2014 and affecting the shock absorption area of ​​Montgo PORN was approved in the year 2014.

This modification could make disappear the buffer zone Montgó PORN impacts, reducing their degree of protection and opening the possibility of building on it.

Now, a year after its approval, the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the Councilor for the Environment, Josep Crespo, have held a meeting in Valencia with the general director of Natural Environment, Antoni Marzo, asking him to take measures to leave This modification will not take effect and the peripheral protection areas established by the Valencian law of protected areas of 1994 are reestablished.

At the meeting they also asked the Director General to include the Xàbia City Council in the collaboration agreement for the surveillance of the Marine Reserve and to enable an increase in the hours of surveillance of this protected area.
