Last weekend took place at the Yago Lamela Municipal Stadium in Avilés, the Spanish U16 Outdoor Championship. Two athletes from the Dénia-CA Baleària Diànium EMA who had been classified among the best athletes in Spain were present at this national event.
Daniel Barrera Sala qualified in the 100-meter dash and Roc Martí i Soldevila in the 1500-meter steeplechase thanks to the marks achieved two weeks ago in the Autonomous Championship held in Dénia, where both achieved victory.
This time, both athletes traveled to Avilés accompanied by their coaches Aina Fornés and Miquel Castillo to participate in the highest level Championship of the Sub16 category.
Daniel had a very good run in the heats of the 100m dash on Saturday morning, finishing fourth in his heat, a mark of 11.73 and qualifying by time to participate in the semi-finals that would take place in the afternoon. In the semifinals Daniel made a time of 11.84 finishing in a very good 15th position in the championship.
Roc participated in the direct final of the 1500m hurdles that took place on Saturday afternoon. It was a very fast race from the first moment, so much so that the first classified set the Spanish record.
Roc was the first time that he attended a Spanish Championship and he really enjoyed being able to compete with athletes of such a high level. She reached a time of 4:39.77 and an excellent 16th position in the championship.
