The paintings, which from now on will enrich the city council's artistic collections, show us a self-portrait of Antonio Marsal; a portrait of his father, a raisin merchant from Dénia; a representation of Pare Pere and a portrait of his wife Carmen, on the beach, a landscape that was one of the favorite themes of this vocational painter, topographer by profession.

One of the grandchildren, Pablo Apezteguía Marsal, intervened on behalf of the family to recall, as the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, pointed out, that the idea of the donation came from Antonio's sister, María Consuelo, who wanted to share the his brother's work with the city of Dénia that he loved so much and get him the recognition he deserved. Maria Consuelo was looking forward to the act "with great enthusiasm", but, unfortunately, she passed away a few weeks ago.
