"Get to know the Port of Dénia", the educational project of the Consultative Port Board

The mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, the Councilor for Education, Melania Ivars, the president of the Consultative Port Board, Gabriel Martínez and the project coordinator, Lois Zonneveld, have presented this morning the educational project "Know the Port of Dénia."

“Our mayor is committed to ensuring that the Port of Denia continues to be one more street in the town and this is the background that justifies the support he has given to this project. Our port is the most important in the Valencian Community and generates more than 1.000 jobs ”, Gabriel Martínez pointed out.

For her part, Lois Zonneveld has assured that many people have collaborated in the initiative and in this way she has been able to leave. "We detect the need that young people have to know the port of Dénia and the job opportunities it generates." The purpose of this project is for young people to get to know the Port of Dénia, as well as the job opportunities and opportunities it has. Five schools in Dénia participate in this initiative: Sorts de Mar, Alfa y Omega, Paidos, Chabas and Carmelitas. A total of 345 3rd and 4th year ESO and FP students.

A catalog has been prepared with information on all the companies and entities that make up the Port of Dénia and for a week, divided into groups, the students will visit Marina Dénia, Real Club Náutico de Dénia, Náutica Noguera, Port Authority and Maritime Captaincy , Fishermen's Association, Public Moorings, Marina El Portet de Dénia, Balearia Port and Varadero Port Dénia. In each facility there will be a person in charge to serve the students and show them the most demanded trades and the type of work they do on a daily basis.

The Councilor for Education wanted to congratulate on this project. “This activity has focused on compensating for the months of confinement, especially for the young people who have endured it in an exemplary way. Teachers told us that there was a great need to be able to get out of the classroom and socialize. Thanks to the Port Board for presenting this project to us ”.

For his part, the mayor of Dénia has commented that “today we are here to accompany the Port Table and thank them for their involvement in this program, which is helping young people to gradually overcome this situation and also serves to bring them closer to a natural environment that we have next to. Education is the basis of what a municipality can do ”.

Creama de Dénia also participates in the initiative, through Punt Náutic, a project approved by the members of PACTE'MA, financed by Labora and executed from Creama that tries to bring the nautical sector closer to citizens, as well as the Municipal Archive of Dénia with the transfer of the historical photos of the catalog.
