Driving from Dénia to Xàbia in the middle of nature, a trip more dangerous than pleasant
Dénia y Xàbia, dos municipios separados por apenas 7 kilómetros y medio pero que entre los cuales la distancia parece mucho mayor. Y lo cierto es que lo es, pues las carreteras que conectan ambos pueblos amplían el recorrido al tener que bordear el Montgó. Existe, no obstante, una alternativa «rápida» a la que solemos acabar recurriendo y que no requiere bordear la montaña, sino pasar sobre ella. Ahora bien, no se trata del trayecto más agradable.

This route avoids having to go around the entire Montgó and thus losing valuable minutes. In addition, it allows you to have a pleasant tour among nature. Or so it seems, because it turns the road into a death trap in some sections.
The vegetation of the Montgó that surrounds the asphalt has long since invaded the road. The lack of cleaning in the last months of the sides is causing nature to recover ground. This could be somewhat anecdotal if it were any other route, but the particularities of Les Planes make it quite dangerous. We are talking about an extremely narrow road, with continuous sharp curves and stretches along huge precipices.
Blindly and without asphalt
The bushes that have slipped into the road prevent proper visibility, which can cause collisions with vehicles that do not appear in the driver's field of vision. In fact, it is usually a conflictive road, in which crashes become common.
The only impediment that the vegetation has to definitively take over the road are the vehicles that circulate on it. The cars are literally trimming the bushes with their passing. What's more, in some you can even see the shape of the mirrors.
As long as there is a risk of using Les Planes as an option to travel between Dénia and Xàbia, asphalt will continue to exist, but if the abandonment of the road by those in charge of keeping it clean were to spread to drivers, in a few months it would be all over again. mountain.
