Condemados al Bordillo receives the Provincial Prize for Volunteering

November 13 from 2018 - 09: 20

The Provincial Council of Alicante organizes for the first time the Provincial Volunteer Awards, whose delivery took place at the MARQ, Archaeological Museum of Alicante, last November 9.

In this first edition, 47 presented projects from different areas: vulnerable population, socio-health, development cooperation, family, childhood and youth, women at risk or functional diversity.
The jury evaluated the different projects and decided the four winners, who received a cash prize of 3.000 euros each.

One of the prizes went to the district association Condenados al Bordillo for its project "Queremos Salir". This project began in the 2010 year in Dénia and the Marina Alta region due to the demand of both users and their families. The project offers weekend trips and camps throughout the year to the group of functional diversity and, since the year it was created, has not stopped growing, currently participating 80 users and more than 50 volunteers, without whom it would be impossible to carry out the project.

The recognition of the award is for the work carried out by the volunteers in this project in which they help the users in the basic and instrumental activities of daily life, as well as in the realization of the different types of recreational activities (games, group dynamics, sports ...).

The deputy of Family and Citizenship, Mercedes Alonso, was in charge of presiding over the act with Father Ángel, Messengers of Peace, who had an intervention speaking about his experiences in volunteering, in which he commented among other things, that "Volunteering is a reflection of today's society because never in the history of humanity has there been so much solidarity and volunteers".

The other associations awarded were ADIS (Home Help and Social Integration) of Orihuela, to the Obra Social Santa Luisa de Marillac for its social emergency program Prosanvi in Alicante and ASPANION for their hospital volunteer in children with Cancer.

They also rewarded the personal career of educator Amaya Gómez, founder of the ANMAG Association (attention to minors and women in situations of social vulnerability) and Fide Mirón, of ADIBI (rare diseases).
