With the opening of a passionate Catalan Quico they start the Moors and Christians in Dénia

The Plaza del Consell witnessed, once again, the start of the Moors and Christians festivities of Dénia with the festive proclamation, which this year was carried out by the member of the Deniers row and president of Levante UD Quico Catalán.

Loving party and Dianense adoption, Quico Catalan and his family have in Dénia their second home, and is attended during the year to unwind from the day. As he acknowledged in his speech, he came to Denia in the same year began the Moors and Christians in the city, and since states hold «recuerdos entrañables» 15 each August.

Quico Catalan began his opening speech thanking Josele Maldonado the opportunity to be «la voz de Dénia» in such a special moment, and he recognized that it is «fácil hablar de algo que quieres tanto, porque no es difícil enamorarse de esta tierra».

The preacher said Denia is «la expresión mejor acabada de la tierra valenciana» y «la mejor anfitriona» to show our history who were visiting us these days, who recommended only «descansar de espíritu».

Catalan recalled that he felt for the first time the greatness of this party when he participated in the Filà Cavallers and together with some falleros from Port Rotes in their first gala parade, and took the opportunity to dedicate a few words of remembrance to those who are not there and of recognition to those who are still working for the party.

A festive told them these days «hay que darlo todo» and captains this year the mission entrusted to them that nobody is left without party. Catalan ended his speech with a poem in which he declared himself in love with the city of Dénia.

Josele Maldonado: «para reencontrarse con la historia hay que venir a Dénia y vivir intensamente estas fiestas»

President of the Federation of Moors and Christians, Josele Maldonado, remarked in his speech that this is a «oportunidad única de estrechar lazos entre festeros y mayorales» permit thanks to «sentimiento de pertenencia a un colectivo».
